The Sales Learning and Development Specialist is the key organizational resource responsible for the design and delivery of sales learning content.  Their scope may include selling skills, business and industry, and leadership training topics -- all integral to the Gordon Food Service sales business and critical to achieving our mission.

 

This position is part of a centralized model providing expertise in adult learning to assigned areas/functional groups within our home office (Grand Rapids, Michigan) and divisional sales operations throughout the United States.  The position is located at the Gordon Food Service home office in greater Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Some limited travel (up to 20%) will be required to fully support the needs of the business, but much of what we do is done virtually through collaborative meeting tools and eLearning solutions.  

 

Scope:  

  • Collaborates with business leadership and the Learning and Development team to scope and prioritize needs
  • Develops and executes learning solutions that support the achievement of the business objectives 
  • Ensures cost-effective design, sharing, implementation
  • Measures and evaluates solutions to ensure relevance and continuous improvement 
  • Implements and maintains leadership and professional curricula
  • Focuses all learning solutions on improving performance outcomes and business results using a systems approach
  • Makes effective financial and operational decisions that positively impact business outcomes and opportunities for competitive advantage.
  • Facilitates learning when instructor-led classes are appropriate

 

Does this look like you?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Instructional Design, or a related field required, Master's preferred
  • Certification as a Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) or Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) preferred
  • Three or more years experience: Designing and delivering learning solutions; Managing diverse learner needs; Evaluating learning solutions; Selecting appropriate methodologies to maximize learning; Leading, managing, and facilitating change within organizations; Improving human performance; Gathering data to show the value of learning and performance solutions; Achieving desired outcomes of projects on time and within budget.
  • Working knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and measurement of training effects
  • Proven ability to measure and evaluate learning through data gathering and metrics
  • Technical tools proficiency:
    • Computer based training software:  Adobe Systems Captivate, Articulate Rapid E-Learning Studio; Trivantis CourseMill; Wordwide Instructional Design System  WIDS, and/or equivalent
    • Desktop publishing software:  Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Publisher; Performance TEchnology Associates DocuTools and/or equivalent
    • Graphics/imaging software:  Adobe Flash, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, TechSmith Snagit and/or equivalent
    • Video Creation/Editing software:  Adobe Premier Pro; Apple QuickTime; Avid Technology Pinnacle Studio; TechSmith Camtasia
    • Web Page Development - Adobe Dreamweaver
    • Video Collaboration:  WebEx GoTo Meeting; Google Hangout, etc.
    • Presentation Software:  Google Presentation, Microsoft Powerpoint, and/or equivalent
