Working on a custom written warehouse management system gives you the ability to affect thousands of users, improve efficiency, design and implement new features and work on complex algorithms.  As part of the effort to make users more efficient, we are working to make them more mobile with the use of web based tablets and phone type devices.  The Warehouse Management Team at GFS is a fun, agile group of people that enjoy getting the job done and making sure we are positioned for the future.

Position Summary:

Plans and executes all phases and activities involved in the release of a system or system update into the production environment.  Responsible for collaborating and coordinating with the Application team to complete the release build, schedule and execute deploys, test and verify release, coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), provide release support and manage issues related to release.  Assists with QA/QC testing where needed and completes tactical requests as assigned.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assemble and distribute monthly release notes.
  • Complete software release builds according to defined process.
  • Create requests for change (RFC) and obtain appropriate approvals.
  • Coordinate, schedule and execute all deploys for each release.
  • Provide release communication during and after deployments.
  • Support release execution by monitoring of each phase of the release. Validate the release as it progresses through various release phases.
  • Conduct assigned testing in accordance with the documentation for test case specifications. Document defects found while executing tests.
  • Coordinate overall release testing, alert appropriate stakeholders of any errors or issues that need to be addressed.
  • Coordinate and monitor User Acceptance Testing (UAT).  Maintain a current and accurate list of the UAT group and collaborate regularly on testing schedule and process improvements.
  • Provide release support and manage any issues that arise.  Facilitate emergency releases for production issues.
  • Adhere to, and assist with, Quality Control practices.
  • Maintain Release Management process documentation and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • One to three years previous software testing or release coordination experience.  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field is preferred


In lieu of the specified education and experience requirements, a proven capability to perform the essential functions of the job, as demonstrated by an equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant work experience may be considered.
