  • The Finance and Human Resources Core team is looking for a Business Analyst to facilitate the implementation of custom and packaged solutions supporting all areas of Finance and Human Resources. The ideal candidate will be able to work with technical staff and business users in the development of specifications and in support of packaged software reviews. Ability to provide data analysis, through database queries, and knowledge of SAP would be beneficial.

    Position Specific:

    Develops software application solutions used by the business community.  Works closely with business users to understand the processes and requirements that a technology solution will enable and then translates those into artifacts that are used by application development teams to create and deliver a solution.  Typically engages in projects that are specific to their domain.


    Essential Functions:

    • Elicits application requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
    • Document and evaluate information gathered from multiple sources to understand user requests and reconcile conflicts between applications to recommend solutions.
    • Proactively communicates and collaborates with customers (external and internal) to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver artifacts (e.g. Business Requirements, Use Cases, GUI designs, etc.) as needed.
    • Works independently with users to define application concepts and in collaboration with project managers and project team leaders.
    • Drives and challenges business users on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans.
    • Creates functional test cases between various applications of a domain.
    • Facilitates user acceptance testing.
    • Serves as a conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow.
    • Develops requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language.
    • Collaborates with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
    • Serves as a liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
    • Able to serve as Subject Matter Expert on 1 or more applications within a portfolio
    • Performs other duties as assigned.



    • Three to five years previous analysis or software development experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
    • Demonstrated understanding of current technologies
    • Strong commitment to software quality
    • Proven analytical, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
    • Solid customer focus, teamwork, innovation, creativity, and relationship building
    • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
    • In lieu of the specified education and experience requirements, a proven capability to perform the essential functions of the job, as demonstrated by an equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant work experience may be considered
