    Our Accounting and Finance teams play an important role in keeping Gordon Food Service operating effectively and efficiently. From strategic work in the development of annual and long-range operating plans to establishing infrastructure that keeps financial transactions flowing efficiently (our employees and vendors like that!), to credit operations that recognize the unique positions of our customers large and small.....we are reliant on this group of professionals and the work they do each week, each month, each quarter.  



    As the Director of NA Accounting and Financial Reporting you will plan, organize, and manage activities related to general accounting, budgeting, fixed assets, cash management, payroll, and financial reporting and analysis.  You will serve as the key liaison between Finance and Gordon Food Services (GFS) Business Units and Shared Service leadership. This person will also manage and control Strategic Accounting Financial Close and Functions for the US and Canada.



    • Develops, updates and ensures compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.  Promotes an environment of internal controls. Ensures that accounting policies and procedures are consistent and/or compatible with those maintained in all other functional areas of Finance.
    • Plans and directs all accounting activity including the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for North America business units.
    • Directs the preparation of monthly and annual financial forecasts and budget variance reporting and initiates spending control methods as necessary.
    • Engages with external auditors for timely and accurate completion of audited financial statements for North America.
    • Directs the development and adoption of software tools and systems for use in the accounting functions to increase the efficiency and/or quality control of data processing, compilation and reporting.
    • Consults with internal and external auditors regarding financial operations of the organization.  Coordinates resources needed to assist with internal and external audit examinations as appropriate.
    • Directs the research and identification of process improvement opportunities for accounting functions.  Identifies gaps in current accounting performance in comparison with measurable targets, benchmarks, or best practices
    • Directs Financial Accounting for Strategic businesses, including AP/AR and Cash settlement, in addition to monthly accounting close, balance sheet reviews and all manual financial procedures for actual finance operations.
    • Serves as liaison with Business Unit and Shared Services leadership and designs team to provide finance vision, counsel, problem solving, analysis, and resources as applicable to issues or projects as appropriate.
    • Assists the Chief Accounting Officer and CFO in setting departmental vision, strategies, action plans, and measurable objectives for the finance organization as well.
    • Interviews, hires, train, and retain staff.  Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department.  Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them.


    Leading Candidates will differentiate themselves with:

    • Ten years previous finance or accounting experience with two years previous supervisory experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required; Master’s or CPA preferred
    • Strong knowledge and experience in the food industry or manufacturing experience
    • Experience in Public Accounting
    • Technical Knowledge of US GAAP and Working Knowledge of Canada ASPE Reporting.
    • Some knowledge of SAP, Blackline and Anaplan is preferred.
    • Management experience, including budgets, business-planning, and board level communication.
